- When asked by gossip columnist Earl Wilson if she had ever been mistaken for a man on the telephone, the husky-voiced actress responded, “No, have you?”
- Upon seeing a former lover for the first time in years: “I thought I told you to wait in the car.”
- A famous quip: “I’ll come and make love to you at five o’clock. If I’m late, start without me.”
- When asked whether she thought a certain male celebrity was a homosexual: “Well, d-d-darling, I really wouldn’t know. He’s never sucked my cock.”
- After declaring that she never really had a strong intrest in making movies, she added that “[t]he only reason I went to Hollywood was to fuck that divine Gary Cooper.”
